Our James had the opportunity to meet Alan Richardson senior coach at the St Kilda Football Club last week. Richo shared an insight into how they manage player welfare and their football operations management.
Two big take aways were:
1. Richo spoke about his role as a leader at the club and that Coaches consistently inspire to get the best out of their players. He also encourages his team to play on instinct, which is when players truly shine.
2. It’s important to consider your own mental health from AFL level, to CEOs, to business owners, to mums and dads, to students, everyone really. Everyone should get a perspective on your world now and again and sometimes remove yourself from the environment your always in such as work, or away from your business and take time to reflect. Mental health is one important aspect of player welfare considering the pressure and environmental that they operate in.
