A simple move before June 30 could save you thousands.

Don’t miss this (June 30 is closer than you think…)

April 24, 20263 min read

Every year around this time…

a little alarm bell goes off in my head:

“Have I sorted my super contributions yet?”

Some people are on top of it.

Others?

It’s more like…

“Ugh… I forgot again.”

I had someone email me on June 26 last year asking if they could still contribute.

Technically yes…

But let’s just say it was a little too close for comfort.

That’s the trap.

Super is important…

but because you can’t see it or touch it, it gets pushed to “later.”

Until later becomes… too late.

The good news?

If you’re reading this now, you’ve still got time.

And done right, super isn’t just about retirement.

It’s one of the simplest ways to:

  • Pay less tax

  • Build wealth over time

  • Feel more secure about your future

I was chatting to a client this week about this exact thing.

Great income.

Saving well.

But hadn’t looked at super all year.

Not because they didn’t care.

Just busy.

Once we ran the numbers, there was a clear opportunity sitting there.

Nothing fancy.

Just using the rules properly.

That’s usually the difference.

Not complexity.

Just action.

So here’s a simple way to think about it.

There are three main buckets when it comes to super contributions.

First — pre-tax (concessional).

This includes your employer super, salary sacrifice, or contributions you claim as a tax deduction.

The cap this year is $30,000.

Second — post-tax (non-concessional).

This is money you add from your own savings.

The cap is $120,000.

And for some people, there’s a bonus.

If your income is under $62,488, the government may chip in as well (co-contribution).

Third — spouse contributions.

You can contribute up to $3,000 into your partner’s super

and potentially receive a tax offset of up to $540.

Simple.

Three buckets.

A few rules.

Big impact over time.

Here’s the part most people miss…

Super is like planting seeds before winter.

If you plant them early enough, they grow quietly in the background.

If you leave it too late…

You miss the season.

One line I always come back to:

“Small decisions, made on time, create big outcomes later.”
